The Alpha Nu Sigma chapter was founded in 1947 in Oakland, California, by Bro. Andrew McCarter. Bro. McCarter’s ingenuity has led to an abundance of Sigma men in Northern California whose reach ranges from Sacramento to Fresno.
As the alumni chapter for Oakland, we believe in strengthening our community by building strong leaders and serving humanity. Our chapter does that by organizing projects that fall in line with our fraternity’s three national programs — initiatives developed by the fraternity to uplift the black community.
I Love Being Black is a movement/brand connecting Black people worldwide. CEO Kumi Rauf founded the company in Oakland over 15 years ago, with the goal of increasing the knowledge and self-value in the Black community through positivity, awareness and fashion. Read more
