Alpha Nu Sigma Recognizes National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day

February 7, 2011 marks the 11th commemoration of National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day is a national HIV testing and treatment community mobilization initiative designed to encourage Blacks across the United States and Territorial Areas to get educated, get tested, get involved and get treated around HIV/AIDS, as it continues to devastate Black communities.  Out of the 4,090 residents of Oakland who are living with AIDS, 2,442 of them, or 60 percent, are Black, according to 2006 figures—the most recent data available—from the Alameda County Public Health Department’s Office of AIDS. This doesn’t even include those just living with HIV.
